Nominees Selected to Succeed 

State Senator Barbara Bailey

Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) from the 10th Legislative District, including those from the Island County Republican Party, selected a slate of three nominees to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of State Senator Barbara Bailey. The selections were made on Thursday, October 3, at Mount Vernon Christian School.

Ron Muzzall (center) was the first choice of the PCOs. Mr. Muzzall is the Manager of 3 Sisters Family Farm. His past governmental experience includes eleven years of service as a Commissioner of the North Whidbey Fire and Rescue District as well as being a firefighter for the district. He has also served on the Island County Weed Control Board. A graduate of Oak Harbor High School and Washington State University, Mr. Muzzall has served on the board of directors for Land o' Lakes and Skagit Farmers' Supply.

Christine Cribb (right) was the second choice of the PCOs. The outgoing executive director of the Greater Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Cribb has also served as President of the Oak Harbor School Board. Her civic involvement includes work on the boards of the Oak Harbor Economic Development Committee, the Island County Economic Development and Island County Tourism boards, and in Oak Harbor Rotary.

Sara Hyatt (left) was the third choice of the PCOs. Mrs. Hyatt serves as the Vice President of Hyatt Construction and the President of Hyatt Development. She is a graduate of Bellingham High School and studied at the University of Washington and Portland State University. She is a PCO in Snohomish County, serves on the Board of Directors of the Affordable Housing Council, and is involved with the Master Builders Association and Relay for Life.

The county commissioners from Island and Skagit Counties, and the county councillors from Snohomish County, will meet on October 18th at 1:30 PM to appoint one of these three nominees to fill the vacancy. The meeting will be held at 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
